Marijuana Milestones

Cannabis. Marijuana. Weed. Pot. Call it what you may, but it is taking the world by storm. As with any controversial topic, Marijuana has a slew of supporters and just as many ready to condemn it. For many countries, the herb is outlawed. Here in the U.S, the herb is making many legal milestones.  For example, Colorado was the first state in the US to lift the ban on the use of recreational marijuana. Dispensaries have opened their doors in Washington and Colorado and may soon be coming to pop up shops near you. Marijuana is most commonly known for the THC or tetrahydrocannabinol and its psychoactive and physiological effects. Did you realize that THC is only one of the 483 known compounds in the plant? Of which, include at least 84 other Cannabinoids! Marijuana is typically consumed for its perceived alteration to mood. It has been said to make its users more relaxed and has been shown to stimulate appetite. Medical marijuana is prescribed for Glaucoma and certain types of cancer. For anyone who has gone through the American School System, the D.A.R.E. Program (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) taught us to “Just Say No” to drugs, but many are saying “Yes” to Marijuana. With budding support (pun intended) from politicians, well known celebrities and even big business moguls, Marijuana users are braving the spotlight to talk about their choice. Whether you are a recreational user, a patient in need of its health benefits or an entrepreneur looking to make a few bucks – Marijuana is already here, and it doesn’t look like it’s going ANYWHERE. Marijuana and TCH has been researched, tested and regulated by the FDA for more than a handle full of years. Take GW Pharmaceuticals’ Sativex that is used to treat muscle spasms and stiffness. Sativex is delivered through a vaporizer and is approved in 25 countries.  Sit tight – GW Pharmaceuticals and Otsuka Pharmaceuticals are currently collaborating to take this product to new heights in the upcoming years. AbbVie and Valeant currently offer THC treatment to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy to treat nausea. Major Marijuana milestones are coming our way. What do you think?
